My Lord Duke,
Inspectorship of Hong Kong Government Schools
Bridgewater April 15, 1861,
Having heard that the Government Schools at Hong Kong are under a careful consideration of the Gentlemen involved in the Appointment, to make an appointment, I make application, most respectfully, to your Grace, as a Candidate for the Office.
My Collegiate and Scholastic experience, referred to in the enclosed Copy of a testimonial, lead me to hope that I may perform the required duties satisfactorily and with sufficient efficiency.
The Lord Bishop of Victoria has undertaken to forward this letter to Your Grace; and I have only to add that Special testimonials which the Colonial Government may require shall be provided and forwarded, at their request.
[St. Ochesin Bie has reported that the French Consul is not in a position to entertain that application. (Su draft & Sr.)]
